Well we had a disappointing day on June 13th. We were supposed to stop in Athens Greece. Unfortunately there was a strike that day and everything was shut down. The taxis, busses, tour companies, the historical sites, everything. Thankfully instead of stopping we had a day at sea as we were rerouted to Croatia! The captain came over the loud speaker announcing we were going to be going to Dubrovnik instead. He never mentioned Croatia so S and I had to think about it. Eventually we figured it out and thought “hey why not!” There were a lot of people upset by the change in plans but we were just glad that the boat was moving and we were going somewhere. When we arrived in Croatia we had to tender to port. The site was amazing. It was soo beautiful, the water, the walled city, and the mountain. We were overwhelmed by it. It was a very pleasant surprise and we did not even make it ashore yet. Once it was our turn to go ashore we made the mistake of bringing a stroller. This is the one thing that I could find fault with NCL on. They never said anything about the city or the layout. We were very unprepared for what lay ahead. I just wish they had offered some advice saying it is not a stroller friendly place. Anyways back to what happened. We tendered in and were amazed. It was clean, and beautiful. There were shops and restaurants all along the wall. We were unable to go too far into the historic old city because of the stroller. It is a walled city with lots of stairs. So we walked out of the walls and into the rest of Dubrovnik. We found the beach, then had lunch a great restaurant, in the old city and finally walked up the mountain and decided to take the tram up to the top. LL loved the ride. The view was breathtaking. We looked out over the water from the observation deck then explored the mountaintop. We then rode the tram back down and headed to the beach. We had to carry the stroller down the stairs. We then walked through a nightclub area, found the bathrooms, changed and were out on the sand/rocks. It was really rocky. The water was freezing. We did not last very long. Infact I did not even get wet (though by now I doubt that surprises any of you). We packed up and went back into town. We bought a few souvenirs and then had some gelato by the water. We boarded the tender and headed back to the boat. We were a little sad we did not see as much of the city as we would have liked but live and learn. We still loved the place and have recommended it to friends! Next time we will take the glass bottom boat tours, and kayak tours. Things we didn’t do because small boats for 3 hours with a toddler did not sound fun.
