That kinda day.

So Kari is here and we were planned on letting her sleep in. I drove S to work with Little Lady and as we approached worked the phone rang. I had S answer it and it was the guys from the embassy calling to come pick up our extra furniture. They were on the way! So not exactly as planned but at least the furniture was going to be leaving. I drive like a Jordanian home and hurry upstairs. I try knocking on the door all gentle like to Kari's room. No answer....So I knock longer....Still no answer...I take a break to go and get Little Lady out of her carseat so she can help me knock. Little Lady knocking is much more about a bunch of yelling and that wasn't working so I start banging. Eventually Kari comes out and is in a robe because she was in the shower the whole time. WHOOPS!! That was when she lets me know she is not done showering. WHOOPS again!!! So she and I hurry to make sure that the guys can get to the furniture in her room. Our plan is that Kari is going to just lock herself into the bathroom so she can finish showering. The guys get here  and they are driving 2 pick ups. 6 guys 2 pickups and here is the list for them to collect: A tall boy and low boy dresser, A queen mattress and box spring, a crib and crib matress, a coffee table, an end table, a twin bed frame, mattress and boxspring, and 2 lamps. Do you see the problem with this picture? Yeah apparently they didn't either! So after a while they get it loaded (3 truck loads) and the final truck stacks the mattress and boxspring on the bed (it did not fit in it) and then the crib on top. They tie it down right???? NOPE!!! They just drive away and hope for the best. I figure that since it was in one piece when it went out our door I am not responsible right? I hope so. lol After that Kari and I went to the store with Little Lady and since the back door of the car would not open we had to fit the baby and her carseat in the back seat along with the groceries and the stroller! We get home and dummy me I roll the back window down to see if that helps us get the door open. Kari looks at me and then says "well that would have been a good way to get the groceries in the car". and I was like " oh yeah I never thought of that" Oh WOW!! lol We get everything up stairs, then we eat some lunch, and leave to go hang out at the embassy. On the way S calls me to tell me that our car is being delivered in 15 minutes (does this remind you of anything). Kari and I continue to the embassy where they are supposed to be delivering it. We try to get in the one gate and cannot for various reasons. Kari and I ask to go to the other gate and the guy says no. S has to come down (why I am still not sure) then Kari and I are told it would be better if we went around to the other gate. (didn't we already say that?) we go around to the other gate, get in, S goes back to work. Well sorta because at that moment the car is ready and he has to go get it.  He gets it and gets it parked, we exchange keys and he goes back to work. Kari and I take Little Lady and head out to the car to head home. We get to the car and discover that her car seat is still in the other car that I just gave S the keys to. Whoops! I call S and he has to come out and open the car. Eventually he is able to head to work again. Kari and I go out and stop at Little Ceasers to get dinner and somehow even though we ordered 2 pizzas we only got one. So the guy had to make another one becuase hot and ready is more of made fresh to order, wait 15 minutes thing here. We got the pizzas just in time for Little Lady to wake up and scream the car ride home. In short it was one of those days. It was kinda fun though and I am pretty sure that Kari and I had some great laughs about our day. I am not sure S got a a lot of work done though.

Be kind

Dear crazy people from Dubai that live upstairs,

I just wanted to take this time to inform you that while you were gone celebrating EID for the last week we were having the best week we have had in Amman so far. That is saying a lot too because Little Lady was sick and up most nights (hey maybe that is why you left) and often ended up in our bed. Would you like to know why it was a great week for us too? Probably not but I am telling you anyways.

1: No one parked in my space in the garage. I am so happy for you guys that you have your own car and a driver who has a car and a housekeeper and nanny. However my space is mine and it does not matter that he has a cute little cat things in the windows and he always runs out and apologizes as he moves his car. We all have a space in the garage and mine should be used by me (or S)!

2: There was no one slamming doors, stomping and banging on the floor waking up the baby at 6 in the morning. Now, no she did not sleep in her room so I guess this does not matter all that much but after today it does.

3: S and I were able to go to bed when we wanted and did not have to hear slamming closets, strange music/base coming through the floor, and stomping feet. Yes it would do you a great service to buy some rugs. They are for sale everywhere here next time you are out why not stop at one of the nice street vendors and buy some?

4:Little Lady had nap time and I did not have to cranky up the white noise to drown out your kids. That said, I am impressed with how loud your 2 year old can be especially through all the cement, tiles, brick, and plaster that is keeping this place together.

5: The elevator smelled like an elevator and not the perfume section at macy's or probably more accurately any abercrombie store. Only this is not a nice smell. This is a gag me overly musky/ floral thing that I cannot accuaretly describe. Maybe while you are out buying rugs you could grab some different perfume too.

Ok so I think that is all. We did have a great week last week and we hope you did too.
Happy Sunday as it was all back to normal last night. :(

Have a great week

Your probably just as obnoxious (in your opinion) below neighbors!

It's beena while

Ok so I haven't forgotten to post it has just been a pretty boring week. Here is what we have been up too and please I recommend reading this at bed time so it will help you sleep!

Tuesday 8/14/12: Spent the day dealing with a sick baby. She was up most of the night and then greeted me in the morning by throwing up an entire bottle on me. At that point I handed her to S who was going to get in the shower and said I think she will need some soap. He got her cleaned up and I got myself cleaned. S left for work and E came. I cared for the baby which involved numerous gas mask worthy diaper changes and a few more outfit changes while E cleaned.

Wednesday 8/15/12: Another day with a sick baby. She did start eating and seemed to keep some food down. So we are making progress. Then just when you think she is fine suddenly we are wearing her milk! I am sure there is some kind of benefits to a soy milk(formula) bath a few times a week right? Hopefully my skin will be moisturized or glow or be soft or well anything besides smelling of spoiled formula. Eventually she went to bed but did not stay there. S and I have been taking turns sleeping in the living room with her

Thursday 8/16/12: YAY Peanut seems to be better. She actually ate her lunch and kept it down. She took an hour nap this morning and then a 2 hour nap in the afternoon. I cannot complain. She needs longer naps but this is the sure sign that she is still sick. E came today and cleaned then entertained Little Lady while I finally got around to filing the medical claims with our insurance. Hopefully the claims go through quick! Having to pay for our medical out of pocket is starting to add up. Then I called E2 (oh forget it I am getting confused with these initials) and asked if she needed a ride to Asian night at the embassy. She did and we found her house no problem. So we hung out with Emily and eventually her husband made it down to dinner. I really like them. They are a great couple hopefully we will get together again soon. We stayed late at Asian night only to have the baby start getting sick again as we were walking out the door. On the plus side we remembered to pay for dinner this time. Lately we have been rushing out with a crying baby and get home to find that neither one of us has paid. Whoops!

Friday 8/17/12: We had breakfast with Tam at Crumbs. It was yummy. I actually found a place with bagels! We even bought some to bring home. Man I never realized how much I love bagels. Ok I knew about it but was not really ready to admit it. Anyways we had breakfast and today was the day that our normally awesome baby decided to be anything but. So we were THOSE people. Lol. I guess it was about time that we had the baby that was making everyone elses child seem perfect. She screamed and cried and was just a cranky girl. nothing made her happy except her teething biscuit which i took from her before she dropped it and this was the ultimate insult to her. This was the point where she went into temper tantrum mode and yes our 8 month old throws temper tantrums. We thanked Tam for breakfast and quickly left. We all came home and took a 2 hour nap then headed out to the pool where we met up with Emily and Mike!! It was a great time and we agreed to get together again over the 5 day yes you read that right 5 day weekend!!! We stayed until the pool closed then came home and had some shawarma and we all went to bed. It was a long day. We really live the tough life huh? Hanging out at the pool all the time?

* ok just so you know I started writing this on Tuesday of this week and it is now Friday... How easy it is to get behind on this!!!! AHHHHHH

Saturday we did nothing special. S went to work. I played with the peanut. OH and Peanut otherwise known as Little Lady started crawling. She is 8 1/2 months I don't know if this is ahead or behind but it is a bit early in my books. We just ordered the baby gates and it will probably be a month before we get them. The cats are not ready for this either. Thank goodness it is not the most coordinated crawl yet. Right now she is army crawling but she does get up on all fours and then she kinda hops both legs forward then moves her hands usually making her lay on her belly then she gets back on all fours and does it again. So I think we need a bit more practice!!!

Sunday: We went to Jerash!! Mike was sick so he and Emily were unable to go but Allison and George came and lucky for them they got to hear Little Lady scream the entire 40 minutes there. More on this trip in a seperate post. Yes you will just have to wait to hear about it and see it in pictures. I just will warn you now there were no chariot races. :(

Monday: Little Lady and I went to playgroup!!! It was the first time we made it and we had a great time. We want to go back again and we will as soon as we can work it out. Little Lady had so much fun she even skipped one of her naps becuase it was too exciting. For those that are here in Jordan and thinking about going to it well worth it. Little Lady was a bit younger than the other kids but she had a blast. Yes it meant that I had to actually help her to play so I could not sit back and hang out but lots of the other moms were playing too. Plus we met a lot of nice people we would not have met just hanging out at the embassy. A circle of little kids banging on drums is just what you need to start your Monday! Apparently not if you were out celebrating EID the night before, a neighbor actually yelled at us to shut up (in arabic) becuase we were too loud. lol!

Tuesday: the last day of the Hoiday weekend. S, Little Lady, and I all headed out to the pool after hitting a grocery store. The store was a mad house but Little Ceasers was open after so we decided it was a much needed stop for lunch!!! Then we went to the pool where it was packed with everyone else who was enjoying the last day of vacation!! We stayed, played and then came home and had left over pizza for dinner! It was a great day.

Wednesday- S worked and Little Lady and I played. She worked on crawling and of course eating lots and lots of food. i should mention that She has also been sleeping most nights in our bed. She doesnt start there but is ending up there. How this happens when she cannot walk yet I do not know. Ok actually I do know. SHe cries and cries and refuses to sleep unless I am holding her and I give up because I want sleep and so I opt for some cuddle time in bed. S moves to the edge I get the middle she the other side. Usually at this point a cat or 2 jump up on the bed and a queen size bed begins to feel really small and crowded. All i can think is of that song where the little one says roll over and they all fall out.

Thursday: Dinner night! Little Lady and I had intentions of getting otu of the house all day but it did not happen. We cleaned, played, and made pumpkin bread. She loves banana bread and we were out so on to pumpkin we go. IT is a hit. She loves it!! Eventually we head to the embassy, have some dinner, hang out with friends and come home around 9pm. Little lady did not want to sleep. Eventually we got her to sleep around 10:30 and we went to bed shortly there after.

FRIDAY!!!!! Ok so today is actually Friday. Little lady slept in her own bed all night and is currently down for a nap. an horu and half so far. I probably should go and check on her. Oh well I will after this. So Little lady slept until 9 this morning. It was refreshing. Now S is in the shower then he is off to work and Little Lady and i are going swimming and to play at the playground for the day. We need to get out and enjoy the day.

There now you are caught up. Not a lot of fun to talk about and as I rushed through the last few days I am sure I missed funny things I could tell you about. I will have to think about it and update is necessary. SO please ignore all the grammar and spelling errors. I just typed and will edit later. I really should check on the baby and get ready to do. Have a great weekend!!

A day at the Dr.

Well Little Lady is sick. Lucky us it hit her at 3am. She started crying and I went in to check on her (flip her over). As I tried that she was not having it and that was when I noticed the smell. I got her up and changed her but a change at 3am is like the alarm clock going off to this one. So up she was. I went and made her a bottle thinking maybe if I fill her up she will go back to sleep. SHE DID!!! That was until I put her down. Yep she was in the I feel yucky and I want to cuddle mode. So S being the trooper/ Daddy that he is decided to sleep in the living room with her after a failed attempt by me in our bed. S got comfy and then I handed him Little Lady and they were out for the night (or so I believed). Apparently Little Lady wiggled all night keeping S up. Who knew? Not me, I was comfy cozy and sound asleep in a bed all to myself! Plus there was not a certain little one making noises on the baby monitor. So I slept great from about 4 until 6:30 when S's alarm went off.  They were sleeping but by 7 S and Little Lady were awake too. At that point I took over the baby and S got ready for work. Eventually S left for work and Little Lady had some milk. She even took a nap with me for 1 1/2 hours!!!! That is huge to our 30 minute napper. I was glad I got to snuggle and nap too! I am still catching up from being sick myself. Well as soon as we got up she was sick. Yep I will spare you the details. I called S and we headed to the Dr at the embassy. The nurses there then sent us to the pediatrician. Well for those wondering about the DR here... here you go! We find a spot in the lot of the busy street. I carry her to the building and she is crying. We get in the office and she starts smiling at the receptionist! Great... So I fill out our name and address and sit down. Eventually it is out turn. The normal DR is out for Ramadan so we saw his substitute. The patient rooms are connected by a door. The Dr never leaves the rooms. She just traveled between the two rooms. The nurse weighed and measured our Little Lady then the Dr came right in. She started talking to me in Arabic and I am sure my mouth stood open in my dumbfounded look. It is not flattering I really need to work on it. Eventually she asked in English boy or girl? I said girl (who was wearing jeans with flowers on them and a purple shirt with butterflies) she looks at the chart and says " oh Little Lady, yes of course girl" then she asked me what was wrong I told her and the whole time Little Lady is sitting there smiling, waving and being her happy silly self. the Dr looks at me like I am insane. I feel like I have to fight to explain she is a premie, has reflux and is allergic to milk. The Dr is talking in English but with a heavy accent and really fast. She puts me to shame on speed talking. Plus she talked in circles. I am kinda glad she is not the real Dr. She leaves and I walk to the reception area in a daze. The receptionist hands me a receipt and I pay the 25 JD for the appointment. She then hands me Little Lady' s chart and is like here bring this to all your appointments. I guess that saves them the storage space! I leave and as soon as we reach the car she is screaming and eventually I make it to the pharmacy. Where she is still screaming and I would later discover she is covered in her lunch on both ends. Oh well. We are in the pharmacy so I get in line. Where everyone and their brother cut in front of me and give me dirty looks. At one point a lady actually looks at me and says " Do you think He (see previous outfit description) is hungry?" My reply is " no SHE is sick. I just need to get her medicine and leave" Then the lady cut in front of me!!!! AHHHHHHH I hate this country!! ok not really but it was annoying that everyone wanted out because of the screaming baby so instead of letting me go they all cut in front of me. Anyways we get out and I am driving home with a screaming baby. She eventually falls asleep I get home and she gets up I change her and we play. I give her her medicine, she has some dinner. S gets home. We do the bedtime thing and She has her milk. I went to turn her over to burp her and she burped and then up came 6oz of milk and who knows how much pedialyte. S will tell you it smelled like strawberry milk. I mean I guess that is the positive! So we had to change her all over again, wash the dresser, the carpet, the floor, her lovely ( I am currently glad she is not a 3 yr old and attached to that one specifically), and I change. We get the room darkened and now she is asleep. S and I are going to have dinner and hopefully a quiet night. After I get a shower! It was a very exciting day.

well another day

My day never seemed to end. I was up most of the night still being sick. S was up most of the night because well I was up being sick. Little Lady slept but decided that 5 am seemed like a great time to wake up. S got up with her and cuddled on the couch this morning or at least that is what I have been told. I remained in bed. E came at 7:30 and allowed S to get ready for work. Little Lady was ok with it. E was able to feed her (amazingly) S left for work, I continued to sleep. Little Lady did give E a bit of a challenge but I managed to get the most sleep of the night this morning (whoo hooo). At 10:30 I climbed out of bed stunned that I woke up feeling fairly ok. I walked to the shower and manged to take one. It exhausted me! So I went and laid down for another 30 minutes. Eventually I made it out to the kitchen and had some mashed potatoes. I kept them down! E continued to be tested by Little Lady. Little Lady would not let E put her down. She did not even want to play. So eventually E was able to get her down for a nap (only after many failed attempts at putting her in her crib) and so E scrambled to make some dinner for us for later so I would not have to cook. It was pretty yummy! I can not really describe what we ate. There were very thin noodles, veggies, chicken, soy sauce and who knows what else in there but it was yummy. Fingers crossed that the little bit I ate stays down so I can have some more. E left for the day around 2:15 and Little lady and I were on our own. I immediately called S and said you cannot stay late today. Little Lady and I did take a nap today and spent some time cuddling. I do not think she is feeling her best either. The diapers from this girl have not been pretty and neither has her attitude. So I was grateful that S came home at 6 and Little Lady was asleep by 7:50. Now lets hope it lasts. S and I are going to watch some TV but I think it will be an early (9) night cause we are both exhausted. So far S is safe from the sickness. Fingers Crossed that he continues to stay sickness free.

I have had a date today

Amazingly enough I have had a date today and no it is not with S. Though he kinda had his own.

So Little Lady was essentially up all night. S and I shared the responsibility of trying to get her to sleep. We would manage to get her to sleep but then she would wake up 30 -40 minutes later. Eventually we decided to feed her and see if that would help. At 3 am she finally was asleep and stayed that way until 8:30. YAY for sleep. Now I will spare you all the details of my date but it began at 8:30 this morning and still continues now. Well not at this exact moment but often. I got up and was instantly sick. I visited the bathroom and thought I was fine. I went in and got Little Lady up and changed her diaper, the whole time thinking 'huh i'm feeling a bit nauseous'. I put her down in the living room with her toys and ran back to the bathroom. I woke up S and so at 8:45am his date started too. Mine with the toilet and his with Little Lady. Although I was resting in bed at one point and he had to come get me because Little Lady was also sick and he and her were in need of a shower. So I watched the baby while he got things ready for the shower. It was impressive the amount of mess she made. So yep. That is our day today. We are not going to get the passport pictures taken for our upcoming trip. We are not going shopping, We are not going to the pool while S goes to work. I get to spend the day in the bathroom and S is spending the day entertaining a sorta sick little peanut. Though I must admit it is cute to see the two of them sleeping on the couch catching a nap together. That does not happen often anymore but it is today. They are getting plenty of quality time and when I am able to be in the room to enjoy it it melts my heart seeing them playing together. It is everything I dreamed of and pictured when I thought about our future family. Hopefully tomorrow turns out better and S doesn't get whatever it is that I have.

playing catch up

Sunday July 23rd:

S went and picked up our new housekeeper/ nanny E at 4th circle at 8 am. She seemed nervous but it was great that Little Lady was still asleep so I had a chance to talk to her without help. She was surprised by the cats but after a little interest from them they disappeared as usual. Little Lady woke up and E  was friendly towards her and Little Lady was smiling and happy to meet her. That was until E tried to feed her. She was not having it. So I fed her. Then Little Lady was happy to play with her as long as I played too. It was a rough start but E is very nice and she even managed to get some cleaning in as did I.

So the rest of the week was spent trying to unpack and adjusting to life with E. Little Lady is not convinced she will be a great caregiver. So far the focus is on E playing with Little Lady while I get to clean and unpack. Although I have to feed Little Lady still (which I was expecting as she refuses to eat from S too). E is doing a good job with her. She seems a little hesitant but her confidence is building and Little Lady is a tough case. She cries the moment I am not in eye sight or holding her. Little Lady is officially teething. She is cranky and not sleeping at night so that makes for a cranky mommy too. Overall it was not a great week for E to start but she is pretty helpful and it can only get better. I should add that Tuesday I went to Mecca Mall with A and B. A asked me then if Little Lady was teething and I said not really. She is fussing and not sleeping as well but I don't see anything. After we returned from the mall I was able to catch a peak in Little Lady's mouth and yep she is teething. That first little spot of white is showing and you can feel the tooth under the surface. Wednesday Little Lady decided that one tooth at a time is not enough so the 2nd one started too. Thursday E, Little Lady and I went to the store. E wanted to get the cleaning supplies she wanted and I needed groceries. E wanted to push the stroller but we are going to need some practice. She did not tell me until later but it was her first time using a stroller and I am pretty sure there was not a shelf or display in the mall that did not get to meet the stroller first hand. LOL oh well. Practice makes perfect.

Friday July 28th:

S and I tried to go to Smart Buy to get some things for his trip. It was closed for prayer and we could not get a straight answer on when it would open. So we decided to drive over to Mecca Mall and try to go to ACE hardware. We drove through town and it was still prayer time. It was strange to see everyone pulled over on the side of the road praying. This does not normally happen. At one point people were praying in the shade of KFC and it really looked like they were praying to KFC. Kinda wish we would have had the camera. We arrived at the mall and the mall itself was open but the stores were closed. They were not going to open until at least 2pm. It was hard to find out when they would open as there were no signs posted and no one seemed to know. So we went home, got our stuff together, and headed to the pool. Little Lady loved it. Then we returned home and S had to pack for his weekend in Switzerland.

Saturday Little Lady and I stayed home and watched the Olympics after we said goodbye to S at 8:30am. I shopped online and we just vegged out around the house. It was a perfect Saturday other than S was missing.

Sunday E came in the morning and Little Lady and I went to the pool after she left. It was a quiet place to spend the afternoon.

Monday we played all day.

Tuesday S arrived back home at 3 am. E came at 9 and it was a good day. Little Lady's 1st tooth has finally popped through the skin so hopefully this will help with her sleeping as it has been a very long weekend without S to take a turn. Little Lady slept in bed with me a lot.

The rest of the week was spent with E cleaning or playing with Little Lady and Me playing with Little lady or cleaning.

Saturday August 5th S and I ventured out to Carrefore. It was the first time we had been to City Mall (the 4th mall we have been too). This one is a bit more like the malls we are used to back home. We enjoyed the stores and then went into Carrefore. Carrefore is a lot like Middle Eastern Super Walmart. It has a bit of everything and a large selection to choose from. We needed a new DVD player and there were like 20 to choose from where other stores only had 5. They had toys, electronics, baby items, clothes, rugs, kitchen utensils and plates, and apparently downstairs was the groceries but Little Lady had had enough so we never made it to that part of the store.

This past week the Pool has been closed. The water turned green and it has been figured out that whoever was taking care of the pool did not use the correct chlorine. It was also blamed on sand but we have not had a sand storm recently so it is unlikely that it is because of sand. So it has been a sad time for Little Lady but it has been a very busy week.

Sunday and Monday we stayed home.

Tuesday we drove S to work so that we could go to the grocery store with E. We went to the store and then came home. I taught E how to make chicken pot pie which she says she has never had before. She loves it. I also made fudge. Once the fudge was done I drove to the embassy and gave it to S to share with his coworkers.

Wednesday we were a little late getting S to work but we woke up and went to coffee at the embassy. S enjoyed his time at work I am sure. lol While Little Lady and I enjoyed meeting all the people at coffee. There were a lot of new people there and it was strange that I was considered the old timer as I had been here the longest and it is only 2 months! We talked about babies, living here, Ramadan, and of course things we miss about being in the states. It was a great time and I took the rest of the fudge and I am happy to say all that I brought was gone. S came down at 1 and we all had lunch together. Little Lady actually sat in a highchair for the whole meal! Once we were done Little Lady and I came home and it was around 2:30 or 3 she took a nap. Then we played and eventually it was meltdown time and I called S and said we are coming to get you. NOW! He was not able to leave though so Little Lady and I played on the playground for the first time. Little Lady seemed to enjoy the swing but she likes to have both feet in the baby swing with her. She really enjoyed the slide. I don't think she ever got enough of the slide but S came down and it was past bedtime so we were on the way home.

Thursday Little lady and I got up and drove S to work again. We dropped him off then promised to be back around 6. E came over and she cleaned like crazy. I got some work done on the computer but mostly I played with Little Lady. At 6pm we headed to the embassy for steak night. The steaks were good, not over cooked this time and the company was fantastic. We hung out at our table and wandered around talking to people until after 8. At 8 is Little lady's bed time and so she had had enough. We left when she was fussing enough and she was sound asleep before the car left the parking lot. We got home, I took her out got her in her pjs and she had her milk and was asleep by 9. S and I were asleep by 10. What has happened to the nights that seemed to really get going at 10? Staying out until 1? Yep that is in the past. We were both exhausted. Little Lady slept until 6 when I gave her some milk and put her in bed with us. S thought I was being a bed hog but once Little Lady started fussing awake at 8:30 he realized we had company (including the 2 cats)! Other bonus Item. Little Lady now has 2 teeth. The other one finally came through and so S calls her our reverse beaver but she looks super cute and hopefully it will help with the sleep from now on. Well that is until the next ones start coming in.

Friday 8/10 BRUNCH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Yep we hurried and got ready and headed to brunch at the embassy. It was great! The best part was not having to cook it. Ok maybe the best part was that it had pork products. Bacon and Sausage!!!! Oh how we have missed them. S can get real bacon at work but I do not often eat at the embassy so I do not get it very often. I was actually surprised at the number of people that I knew at brunch. Maybe we are starting to get the hang of living here. After we talked with a bunch of people and had our fill to eat we headed to the pool. YAY it was finally open. Downside being that they had to refill the pool with some fresh water and it was freezing! Little Lady and S did not seem to mind. I woosed out for the most part and choose to sit on the side with my feet in and the rest of me enjoying the sun. We had some friends at the pool and then sat around talking. Eventually we came home. It was like 3:30! It is amazing how much time you can waste at the pool. We hung out, played, and rested. We were wore out. S and I ordered some dinner after Little lady went to bed and we went to bed again at 10 pm.

Ok so thank you to those of you still reading this boring long crazy post and all the others. I will try to get better at posting as things happen. Our day to day seems a bit trivial to write about but then again I might want to actually remember these time when Little lady is off to college or heck even Kindergarten. I will probably want the reminder of snuggling in bed and days spent at the pool and all the great moments that all go by way too fast. She is already getting so big and busy. She hardly likes to snuggle anymore because she wants in on the action of everything. Hoepfully this next week is a bit slower and has a lot more sleep. Fingers crossed!

Roman Amphitheater

OK so we are really behind on updating. here is the rest of the update for July 21st

After the Citadel our tour group stopped at the Roman Amphitheater.  The Amphitheater was built somewhere between 138 and 161 AD during the reign of Antonius Pius. Apparently it could easily seat 6000 people. We entered the theater from behind the stage. There was no way one could stand and not be in awe at the massive size of this place

Even the tiny bit of me that was stage crew back in high school came alive and I started thinking of what it would have been like to perform in something like this. The stage floor is wooden and off to the left and right were the staging areas but they are currently used as museums. One is complete with costumes to represent the different types of dress worn in the middle east and the other was closed so I don't know what is in there. The large open area in front of the stage is the orchestra pit. It is a huge pit! I am 5'4 and the stage started at the top of my head.

S was brave enough to venture up into the seats. With Little Lady attached to me there was no way I could safely go into the seats. So I stayed in the pit as a guide for the size in the pictures. S said the steps were very steep and not necessarily even. I had flashbacks of being 8 months pregnant. Actually I was just under 2 weeks away from giving birth and we went to a Red Wings game with S's sister and brother in law. We had a great time with seats just off the ice but all the trips to the bathroom meant a lot of steep stairs to climb. I made lots of people nervous that day including myself and I did not have the baby throwing as much weight around as I do now. Needless to say I was very glad that I did not go up into the stands.

S's view from the seats. He was in the middle section and that small speck in the arches is me and Little Lady.
OK so back to the topic at hand. Apparently if you went to the top of the theater those seats were not very good for seeing the action but they were the best for hearing the dialogue.  Also in case you were wondering there are 33 rows of seats and the bottom 500 seats have been restored so that the theater can be used today. While S was still up in the seats Little Lady and I headed into the museum to cool off and look around. We walked in and found different period costumes and mosaics.  Jordan loves mosaics. There seem to be mosaics everywhere. We even have one in the entrance way of our apartment building.

After we finished checking out the Amphitheater we got back on the bus and headed home. We had lunch at the embassy then headed home to take a nap and drink plenty of water. We all slept great after all this activity.
