Life Is All About Adventure: June 2016

After we finished at the park and checked out of the hotel we had to get to the city. We tried figuring out the trains but it was a bit confusing and they were not very friendly or helpful. We opted for taking a taxi from the train station to our hotel in Paris. It was an added expense but in the end it was worth not having the hassle and they dropped us right at the hotel. No hauling luggage from the train station through the streets of Paris. We then got settled, took a nap, and eventually set out to find dinner. We walked out of our hotel and turned the corner to be staring at the Eiffel Tower. Talk about location. It was perfect. Lots of restaurants around, parks, and centrally located between the Eiffel tour, Louvre, and Arc De Triomphe. We returned to the hotel after a great meal and slept the night away. We scheduled our tour of the Eiffel Tower for the next morning and luckily the rain held off for that part. We spent a few hours exploring the tower. Amazingly LL who swears she is afraid of heights loved playing on the glass floor. She was scared to look out of the tower itself but looking down while standing on glass was no problem. She played in the play space on the tower and eventually we went down. There were some races going on so many streets were closed to traffic. We took the opportunity to take pictures standing in the empty streets in front of the Eiffel Tower. It was awesome. Then we headed to the Arc de Triumph. We explored that for a bit, walked the Champ de Elysees, wandered a park, found the most romantic bridge (by what the guide told us) and went back to the hotel for a break. We then got LL pizza for dinner and later Indian for S and I. It was Mothers Day in Paris so restaurants were packed but we were happy with the place we found. Our final day we had tickets for the Louvre. It was pouring rain when we woke up and it never stopped. So we spent 4 hours in the Louvre and did nothing else. LL loved listening to the audio tour for a while and when she lost interest we gave her our little camera and told her to take pictures of whatever interested her (see her pictures here). She did a great job and that really kept her interest for the rest of the time we were there. She did amazingly so we treated her with McDonald's for lunch and then went back to the hotel. We changed into dry clothes and headed to the airport by taxi. It was an interesting trip. I am glad to say we saw it and even happier we missed the flooding that is happening this weekend.
