Touristy stuff

Today we got up early and I mean early, 6am! We had breakfast and met our guide, Lee for the day at 8. We headed right to Tiger Kingdom where we were met with disappointment. Unfortunately the baby tigers were sick and not available so they were not allowing children to visit. This information was not made public. I checked the website before planning our tour the day before. Turns out the tigers are very sick. So it wasn't something that just happened either. We left with a crying kid and no tigers. Not that we would have brought a tiger with us but you know. We then headed along the beach road and viewed some of the beaches of Phuket. We stopped at 2 different lookouts and enjoyed some amazing panoramas of the view. Our guide in an attempt to make up for missing the Tigers stopped for us to feed a baby elephant. Which Little Lady loved. She was much braver this time around. We then traveled to see Big Buddha. He is big. Buddha himself is completed but the surrounding complex is not. We bought/donated and received a marble tile which we signed and little lady drew on. This tile will then go and be put on the statue somewhere face side down. So now a part of us will always be in Thailand at Big Buddha. The views were great up there and we supposedly saw Buddhas foot and butt print as well. We then left and had lunch at a local Thai place. The food was delicious! We had papaya salad, coconut chicken soup, and pad Thai. Little lady had chicken satay and French fries. We even ordered fresh strawberry smoothies. It was wonderful all made fresh for $20! We then checked out Wat Chalong. It is one of the largest temples in Phuket. We learned a lot from our guide today about Buddha and religion. It was awesome! After Wat Chalong we checked out the upside down house for fun. Everything is upside down as the name says. At first Little Lady was into it but then she got scared things would fall on her. That coupled with her being exhausted from last nights activities led to a crying fit. She passed out in the van on the hour ride to the hotel. Now we are back at the hotel and I am sitting poolside resting my injured leg while S and Little Lady enjoy a swim. We found bandages last night but it turns out their waterproof claim is in question. Oh well I needed to air it out anyways. Soon we will head in and get ready for dinner. We have reservations for the Thai restaurant at the hotel again tonight. Yum!

Lee showed us how to play the gong with our hands by rubbing the back

We made a tile. The tile will be placed written side down on Buddha.

Showing off our tile. She made a heart and a flower
