The Ice Cream Farm

We decided to find out where ice cream comes from and visit a local creamery. What a fun idea! Well I had fun. We had a very interesting tour guide. I can't recommend Joyce to others but the farm was awesome. Calves you can feed at 4pm but pet otherwise. We visited the dairy cows and even stayed around to watch them get milked. We of course had to sample the ice cream and it was the best. Creamy not too sweet deliciousness. I want to go back just for the ice cream. If you are in our area I highly recommend visiting South Mountain Creamery. It was great. Fun tip. You do not have to do the tour. You can stop in, buy ice cream, milk, etc, watch the cows get milked, and even feed the babies if you time it right. Milking is at 1:30pm and bottle feeding calves is as 4pm. Have a great trip!

The rooster crowing was a big surprise!

Fun with friends on a beautiful day

They can milk 20 cows at a time
They get on average 4 gallons of milk per cow per milking...that's 8 gallons a day.

There was this awesome old firetruck on the farm. I love it!

Dairy cows just waiting to get milked

Trying to avoid the smell.

18 flavors... I need to go back to taste them all.

Incase you want to get a cow. I am thinking about it. You can also get your dairy products delivered

After petting the cows you can relax and let the kids play in their playarea

Loving the antique vehicles.

watching the cows get milked.

Little Lady grabbed this great shot of the milking machine

The cows were done and on their way to the pasture.
